Mask 3 | Seconds

Mask 3 is part of the Masks collection which delves into the complex symbolism of masks as vehicles of identity. In this series, I investigate masks in their capacity to celebrate cultural heritage and their role as shields behind which identities are hidden. Through this, I reflect on my experience as a gay Jewish man concealing my identity in a society that often demands conformity.

 This relief artwork is sold through a Seconds sale at a discounted price because I am still in the process of developing the final design of Mask 3. Reliefs are sculptures with a flat surface. Because of their flat surface, reliefs can be displayed as wall sculptures.

The relief is in perfect condition. Mask 3 suggests sensuality and fluidity, exaggerating areas of beauty and challenging their roles as part of one's identity. The mask is a boundary, a barrier that reflects my ongoing negotiation with my identity.

Mask 3 measures 36x36 cm. It is recommended to frame the relief with a 30 mm margin to enhance its presence. This spacing allows the piece to breathe and emphasises its unique design.
